1866 - Alfred Nobel invents dynamite, which will later cause him to consider his legacy to mankind.
1876 - The Bass Brewery Red Triangle becomes the world's first registered trademark symbol, and 110 years later, the beer itself is one of QDV's favorites.
1886 - Steve Brodie may or may have not jumped from the Brooklyn Bridge. Countless school children later learn about Brodie, thanks to Bugs Bunny.
1896 - Utah is admitted as the 45th U.S. state.
1906 - "Conan the Barbarian" author, Robert E. Howard, is born in Texas.
1916 - The Black Tom bombing occurs in Jersey City, New Jersey, with such strength that it is felt as far away as Philadelphia.
1926 - U.S. Route 66 is established. We will get our kicks on it for nearly sixty years.
1927 - Lon Chaney's "London after Midnight" premieres. Today, it is one of the most sought of the lost films of the silent era.
