This is one of at least two signs near the docks which has boats to take tourists on trips along the St. Lucia Estuary. The sign, entitled "Mangrove Swamps" has illustrations and text to inform visitors about the the mangroves which have adapted to the saline water and also provides some information about the local water fowl.
Visitors are likely to see hippos and crocodiles in the estuary. The estuary shares its name with the local town of St. Lucia.
