Fetching Firewood is one of the most dangerous things women must do. When they leave the meager safety of the village or refuge, they may be attacked and raped or kidnapped.

The plaque reads:

"They say we destroy the forests, but fuel and electricity are beyond my means. There is no other way to cook the meals and feed my family."

The danger women face in gathering firewood is being targeted by many charitable organizations who have developed solar cookers, solar panels that roll up (for electricity) and LED lanterns that use little electricity to help ensure women's safety. Rape is used as a tool of terrorism by the military, government and/or thugs. Sites that provide help include (visit link) , (visit link) and (visit link) .
