Mary's upright, modern gray granite headstone has the following inscription:

Mary. L. Montgomery
May 19, 1859 - Nov. 29, 1960

A precious one from us has flown
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

Thanks to Findagrave for information about "Aunt Molly," and one of the photos on her memorial there is a news clipping about her 95th birthday. (visit link) Here are some of the things that happened during her long life:

1889 - The Eiffel Tower opens in May, and is generally not well-received by contemporary critics.
1899 - Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag is registered for copyright as ragtime music enjoys mainstream popularity in the United States.
1909 - Joan of Arc is beatified.
1919 - The Chicago White Sox throw the World Series to the Cincinnati Reds.
1929 - The Roaring Twenties go silent as the Crash of 1929 brings in the Great Depression.
1939 - Amelia Earhart is officially declared dead after her disappearance. Today, in 2014, we may be getting closer to finding out what happened to her.
1949 - George Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four" is published.
1959 - Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" premieres.
1960 - Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz divorce, bringing "I Love Lucy" to an end.
