There was a wood framed train station here, which burned in 1943, necessitating the construction of this more fireproof brick building, built almost 80 years ago.
At the time that this station was built, Paradise was a railroad divisional point on the Northern Pacific. That likely changed when the Northern Pacific became part of the Burlington Northern Railway on March 2, 1970, with the merger of four railroads, the Great Northern Railway, Northern Pacific Railway, Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway and the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. Later, with another merger, the Burlington Northern became the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe. Still later the BNSF leased this section of track to
Montana Rail Link. Specifically, it's anyone's guess as to exactly when this station was built.
This former Northern Pacific train station in Paradise is now used by Montana Rail Link, but only for freight. Regular passenger train service in Paradise ended in October of 1979 when Amtrak's North Coast Hiawatha was cancelled.
