Depicted small Baroque alcove waychapel, work of architect František Maxmilián Kanka, is located in Loretánská street in Prague' district Hradcany.
This small alcove chapel was built at expenses of Štepán Count Kinský (his coat of arms decorates the chapel tympanum) in 1725–1730. Count Kinský was inspired by local legend: At this site were in 1512 staked two burglars, brothers (family name Chlévec), and one of them escaped from the stake. He crawled up to nearby St. Benedict Church and asked for confession before he died. Chronicler Václav Hájek of Libocany adapted this legend: Burglar prayed to St. Barbara before his death and eventually was redeemed thanks to her intercession. The legend is depicted inside chapel' alcove in beautiful fresco painted by a prominent Czech Baroque artist Václav Vavrinec Reiner. The chapel was reconstructed in 1858.
