Before ubiquitous cell phones, even before wristwatches, townspeople needed to know the time on occasion. The city of Whitefish provided that service in spades when they erected this clock.

Tall enough to be seen throughout the downtown area, this clock tower is a monument to time itself. Beautifully crafted of stone and brick, it holds four large clock faces with Roman numerals, each within a brick surround. We wish we knew when the tower was erected as there were no plaques of any sort to be found on the tower.
It is open at the bottom with walkways running through both east-west and north-south under stone archways. Its crowning glory is a bell tower on the top, octagonal with a copper roofed dome and supported by eight smooth round columns. On each corner of the tower at the foot of the columns is a terra cotta urn.
Altogether, this is the finest town clock we've encountered to date.
By our clocks the clocks on the tower were a few minutes slow.
