A large churchyard with graves on three sides of the church. The church dates back to c1200 and has undergone many changes, with major refurbishment in 1867. Tower rebuilt at that time and has clock faces on two sides and now houses eight bells.

One of the head stones reads-
"HERE
Lieth the body of
John Scott son of John
Scott of Overthorpe in the
Parish of Haxey in the Co.
Lincoln who was slain by
their own Team, on y. road
y. 16th June 1758.
Aged 38 years."

The Team Referred to above is most likely a team of horses.

Another headstone reads-
"ERECTED
by
subscription
in memory of
GEORGE NAYLOR
who died March 18th
1865, AGED 72 YEARS.
His height being only 4ft.7in.
and having lived at Wath
of upwards of 60 years he was
the village celebrity.
"Be ye also ready"
"
