This granite marker is located east of the John Logan Memorial. This is at approximately 1.6 miles from the start of the Tour along Union Avenue.

This granite monument is located to the east of the John Logan Memorial. The upper section of the monument has the state name "Ohio" centered on a rough faced cap. The inscription is to the left of the main bas relief carving. This carving is of a soldier with his musket at his hip climbing a hill. His bayonet is fixed on the musket. In the lower right is the state seal imposed on a palm frond. Text on the front of the monument:

SIXTY EIGHTH INFANTRY
COL. ROBERT K. SCOTT,
LIEUT. COL. JOHN S. SNOOK,
COL. ROBERT K. SCOTT,
2d BRIG. 3d DIV.
17th CORPS.

68th Ohio Infantry

"The 68th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Latty in Napoleon, Ohio October through December 1861 and mustered in for three years service under the command of Colonel Samuel H. Steedman.

The regiment was attached to 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, Military District of Cairo, February 1862. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, Army of the Tennessee, to May 1862. 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, Army of the Tennessee, to July 1863. Unattached, District of Jackson, Tennessee, to November 1862. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, Right Wing, XIII Corps, Department of the Tennessee, to December 1862. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, XVII Corps, Army of the Tennessee, to July 1865.

The 68th Ohio Infantry mustered out of service at Louisville, Kentucky on July 10, 1865."
