The Worcester Corset Company was founded by David Hall Fanning. He originally state the Worcester Skirt Company, producing hoops for hoop-skirts. When they fell out of fashion, Mr Fanning began manufacturing corsets. The company was created in 1885 and changed its name to the Royal Worcester Corset Company in 1901. At it's peak the factory employed 2,000+ people. The corset company stayed in business until 1940, when it folded. From 1940 to 1983 the H Brown Shoe Co manufactured boots and shoes for the military.
