The firehouse has been extensively modified, however the facade elements were kept in its modernization in 2001. The large glass windows were the firehouse engine doors. The second story windows were left in tact in their look and feel. The third story windows are retained however louvers have replaced the glass. The ornamental peak is in tact, but simplified in detail.
It was originally designed by Elbridge Boyden & Son a local architect. Built by Eli Belisle at a cost of $16,000. It was built to serve the industrial and residential area surrounding its location.
Today it is still a firehouse.
