The Curtis Park Arboretum features only trees & shrubs native to Eastern Australia. The sign has pictures of 35 birds with their common & scientific names. It is designed to be used in conjunction with a booklet available free from a letterbox near the entrance. The booklet gives information on the birds distribution, types of areas found eg woodland, what they feed on & when they breed. The sign is adjacent to a feeding area where food is available periodically so as not to encourage dependence.

One of the birds featured is a Little Corella & several of these were in a tree above the sign with one feeding on a piece of stale bread.
