Ovce domácí je malým domestikovaným prežvýkavcem, chovaným hlavne pro vlnu, maso a mléko.
Protože nejsou tak nárocné jako skot, chovají se i v horských nebo aridních oblastech. Nejvíc ovcí je chováno v Cíne (170,8 miliónu kusu) a v Austrálii (106 miliónu kusu). V Ceské republice bylo chováno v roce 2011 - 209 052 ovcí.
Samice se v ceštine nazývá ovce, samec beran. Vykastrovaný beran se oznacuje slovem skopec, maso skopcu má slabší specifický zápach. Mláde do stárí pul roku se nazývá jehne. Ovce, která ješte nerodila, je jehnice.
