Der Durchgangsbahnhof wurde am 6. Dezember 1906 in Betrieb genommen als Ersatz für 4 Kopfbahnhöfe.
Ein Teil des Bahnhofes ist die Turmuhr an der Westseite. Die vier Zifferblätter in die vier Himmelsrichtungen haben einen weißen Hintergrund und schwarze Striche für die Stunden.
