This is the caldron that was lit for nearly two weeks for the international competition. This caldron was lit in 2002 for the Winter Olympic games, which the opening and closing ceremonies happened in this stadium. This was the last time the United States hosted the Olympic games and it happened less than a year after 9/11. The caldron is located to the south of the Olympic stadium.
