This bust of an angel is both delicate and seductive by her gaze and garment. The title of the piece is interesting in that it is a French idiom for an awkward silence.

"'Un ange passe' is a French phrase for 'There's an awkward silence, An awkward silence has fallen over the room .' The French expression un ange passe is used to describe a sudden, unexpected break in conversation due to some kind of awkwardness or embarrassment. The question is, is the angel the cause or the effect of the silence? On the one hand, maybe the fact that an angel is passing is what causes the conversation to dry up. On the other, it could mean that the angel is aware of the awkwardness and is passing in order to try to smooth. (from (visit link) )

"Rosy-cheeked, winged cherubs may be the most common images associated with angels, but these heavenly messengers actually take many forms in world religions. Whether they are Buddhist devas, Muslim
malaikah, or Mormon ministering spirits, angels play important roles in many faiths." (from (visit link) )

"Bets Holland Lundeen is a native of Norman, OK. Her first experiences in art were early childhood drawings, but her skill in capturing emotions in her art was born from her extensive experiences as an actress, choreographer and dance teacher.

Bets finds that there is a similarity in the process of tapping creative emotion, whether it be designing patterns and dance steps as a choreographer, creating a character for a dramatic performance, manipulating the clay when developing a sculpture, or observing the character of the subject for an oil portrait. She feels that there is a constant thread which connects the various arts. Her goal as an artist is to weave this thread through the soul of the observer.

Since her days as a young woman traveling throughout Europe and studying with different teachers, Bets has become proficient in her various techniques and has gained national attention through exhibitions from Beverly Hills to New York City. Having been a professional sculptor for over 30 years, she has recently been concentrating her career focus on oil portaits and paintings." (from (visit link) )
