This war memorial in Green Park was originally erected in memory of the men of Heckmondwike who gave their lives during the First World War.

The memorial is in the form of an octagonal base surmounted by a plinth and blomfield-style cross. It has inscriptions in black lettering on the sides of the plinth and on the base.
The large stone cross has a bronze sword of sacrifice on the front face.
