The foundations of the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria were probably laid in the latter half of the 14th century.
Today’s church is a late Baroque building. There was originally no bell tower, and the independent tower which we can see today was made by rebuilding the churchyard gate in several stages. The bell of St. Barbara in the tower was a donation by miners from Svoboda nad Upou in 1520. The church was renewed and reopened in 2000.

Mladé Buky leží 7 kilometru od okresního mesta Trutnov, na silnici na Pec pod Snežkou. Kostel stojí na návrší jihovýchodne od centra obce, v areálu dále tvoreném kostelem, zvonicí, farou, výklenkovou kaplickou a novým hrbitovem (založeným v roce 1866).
