"Although Colorado sculptor George Walbye is an artist who has spent his entire life in the Rocky Mountain West, his sculpture moves beyond ordinary perception of Western art.

A series of bronze bowls and lidded pots for which Walbye is especially noted use elements inspired by American Indian art and ornamentation, but there is a contemporary quality in their design.

Walbye was born in Rawlings, Wyoming and spent boyhood summers working on ranches near the area homesteaded by his grandfather at Whiskey Gap. The beauty and vitality of the West are qualities reflected in his art." (from (visit link) )
