"Society for Disabilities has two thrift stores in the City limits of Modesto. Recognizing the need for affordable clothing, furniture, and house-ware items, the board of directors acted quickly and opened the first location in Nov. 2010 at 1129 8th St. in Modesto and in May 2013 SFD opened its second store located at 3124 McHenry Avenue, Suite A.
Not only do the stores help the community with affordable merchandise, it also helps generate a steady flow of income into the organization so we can increase our capacity, create sustainability, offset operating costs, increase programs, and provide job training for persons with and without disabilities.
Donations of house-ware, furniture, clothing, toys, books and more are encouraged. Donations are tax deductible and proceeds from sales go to Society for Disabilities many programs and services for children and adults with diverse abilities in our community." (
