The part of pre-war fortification system (visit link) - the infantry blockhouse N-S 71 "V sedle" (KAHAN III) was, in connection with the construction of the anti-nuclear shelter Hanicka, reconstructed under the code name Kahan III in the years 1986-1989 to become the connecting centre of the secret State Security Ministry of the Interior.

This object should fulfill a special tasks in the management of national defense and ensuring the radio connection between the states of Warsaw Pact (visit link) .

Currently there is a Museum of the Cold War (visit link) operated by the Club of the Czechoslovak Fortification.

Zastrcený bunkr nad Náchodem mel sloužit pri prípadném napadení Ceskoslovenska jadernými zbranemi. Až do 90. let o nem témer nikdo nevedel. Dokonce i rada místních se domnívala, že "ten objekt v lese" je jen nejaká vodárna. N-71 "V sedle", zvaný Kahan III, byl jedním z nejprísneji utajovaných bunkru u nás.
