19th United States Infantry, has this one monument on the Chickamauga Battlefield. The regiment took part in some of the hardest-fought battles of the West, including Shiloh, Stones River, and of course, Chickamauga, among others.
This regiment is still in existence - assigned to the US Army Training and Doctrine Command, with the assignment of conducting Basic and Advanced Infantry Training.

Text on the right side of the marker:
THE REGIMENT WAS ENGAGED THROUGHOUT THE 20TH OF SEPTEMBER, 1863, ON AND NEAR THIS SPOT UNTIL NEARLY 5 P.M. WHEN IT WAS WITHDRAWN WESTWARD ACROSS THE LAFAYETTE ROAD TO ROSSVILLE VIA MACFARLAND'S GAP.

COMPANIES A, B, E, F, G, H, OF THE 1ST BATTALION AND COMPANY A OF THE 2ND BATTALION, WENT INTO ACTION TOWARDS JAY'S MILL ON THE LEFT OF THE BRIGADE. AT ABOUT 9 A.M. OF SEPTEMBER 19TH, 1863, WITH A STRENGTH OF 14 OFFICERS AND 190 MEN. COMPANY C, 1ST BATTALION WAS DETACHED AT DIVISION HEAD-QUARTERS.

The marker contributes to the national significance of the park under NR Criterion A because it represents the national movement among veterans to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.

Short Physical Description
9' x 3' x 7', monument consists of a rock-faced base and curved-top stone relief slab. Relief has figure of prone infantryman firing from behind a log parapet in a forest setting. Unit information in raised letters beneath the relief.
