According to the Old Providence Church historical marker this cemetery has the graves of 14 Revolutionary War soldiers. After spending time exploring the cemetery, I did not find one confirmed grave of a Revolutionary War soldier. But, this is an old and very disorganized cemetery - especially the older graves. Many markers are missing. Others are badly eroded. I'm not surprised that finding the markers is about impossible.
Upon leaving I talked to a local resident and church member who assured me that there are documented Revolutionary War soldier graves in the cemetery. He went on to elaborate his understanding that some were buried in unmarked graves on in graves with wooden markers that are long gone.
UPDATE. Thanks to Sneakin Deacon who provided the following information after visiting on April 30, 2011:
Currently there are 12 new stones standing in front of several of the original stones. I was also able to photograph one original stone that I was able to read. Since you created the original Waymark I thought you might want to list the names of the Revolutionary War veterans who rest here with your waymark. I have photos to confirm each name if you are interested.
