The creator of the headstone picked an unusually-shaped piece of stone which lends character to the marker. It is angled in a very slight U-shape, anchored in concrete, and simply says "E.S. Morton 1893 - 1972". There are signs of blackening in the letters, but it is unknown whether that was part of the original stone, having weathered away, or it was done later as a guide to making the stone more legible.
