The Rock Creek Cemetery was established about 1910 and is still active. It is located within the Kootenay Boundary District in a rural area of Rock Creek. It is maintained by the town of Rock Creek.
There are approximately 325 known interments about half with headstones. Though the cemetery is maintained the day we visited the grass was about knee high in some areas. The lilacs were cut back towards the back of the cemetery as these are very invasive and they do try to keep them at bay.
Rock Creek Cemetery is approximately two acres in size. There is a gate at the entrance that was unlocked when we visited the cemetery. There are some interesting old headstones with the first known interment:
John C. Eek who was born June 24, 1862 and passed away December 2, 1912 at the age of 50 years.
