At the front of Little Elm Cemetery is a sign, placed in 2009 by the Little Elm Cemetery Association, indicating that a headstone engraved "A.S. 1808-1862" marks the first burial in the cemetery.

They got it a bit wrong. The sandstone marker is at the rear of the cemetery, with two other initials-only markers behind some trees. The initials "A.S." are there, but the rest is actually "Born 1808 Age 54", so we're left to deduce that 1862 was the year of death.
Flanking A.S. are J.S., "Age 54", and M.A.S. One wonders how they know that A.S. was the first.
