The school was built in 3 stages. The first section is 2 1/2 story brick construction with a slate covered hip roof. The building's trim is primarily sandstone. In 1902 a rear wing was added and emulates the style of the original build. In 1923 another addition was added and also resembles the first 2 sections, however has a flat roof.
George Clemence was the architect of the original school, who was born, raised and worked in Worcester. In addition to the Upsala St School there were multiple other buildings built in Worcester which he designed.
