This stone cenotaph was erected to commemorate the men of Windermere who fell in the Great War.

The memorial takes the form of an 8 metre high cenotaph, standing on a 3 stepped base. The cenotaph has a carved wreath and sword of sacrifice. On each side of the base is a wall with the names of the dead carved on it.
The memorial has been amended with the names of men who fell in the Second World War, The Korean War and one death on active service in 1985.
The memorial was designed by Mr John Swallow, and it was rebuilt in 1988.
