Kostel založil biskup Tobiáš z Bechyne roku 1296. Vež byla pristavena v prvé polovine 14. století, presbytár a lod upraveny v druhé polovine 14. století. Kostel byl nekolikrát obnoven a prestaven, napríklad v letech 1644 a 1764. Do dnešní podoby byl barokne prestaven v roce 1791.

The church was founded by Bishop Tobias of Bechyne in 1296. The tower was built in the first half of the 14th century, presbytery and nave rebuiled in the second half of the 14th century. Into its present form was rebuilt in 1791.
