Cascades Conservation Area is a nice place for a quiet hike in a beautiful poplar and birch forest.

Cascades Conservation Area is one of ten conservation areas maintained by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority. There are several walking trails, BBQ and picnic facilities, and a pavillion featuring interpretive displays highlighting the geological, hydrological, and botanical features of the area. Hikers can view a wide variety of geological formations along the Current River.

Six kilometers of trails wind through the forest of the Cascades Conservation Area. The trails are generally broad and grassy, with several short climbs and descents. The Forest Trail (750 m) is paved for wheelchair access.


What points of interest are there?:
The Yellow Trail leads down to the shore of the Current River, with fine views of the rapids. Views of the river are also found along the Red trail.


What activities are available?:
Trails are for pedestrian use only.


Hours of accessibility?: Open 7:00 to 23:00

Fee box is located in the parking lot. Day use permit is $2 per vehicle. An annual pass good at all ten Conservation Areas is $30.
