This monument takes the crude form of a ship...with old photos and text featured at various locations on the monument. One of the placards informs us that in 1934, during the British mandate two ships were organized with migrants by zionist youth movements. during World War II, 67 ships brought another 37,500 refugees despite a British blockade and other barriers.

The placard includes a quotation:

"On the barren seas come the flag-bearers of the Jews's distress. They will not allow our country's gates to be barred. .. The Jewish refugee leads the battle and we must all join his hosts... Whether you like it or not, whether you help or interfere, Jewish distress will call ships to the sea. I believe that the days are not far off when songs will be sung and maybe prayers written for the welfare of our own seamen."

Berl Katznelson; at the Zionist Congress on the eve of World War II, August 1939.
