This fire department serves the small community of West Valley, which is about 2 miles northwest of Anaconda along Highway 1.

The department has 15 firefighters, all volunteer, and operates out of a small concrete block fire hall capable of housing possibly four vehicles. The Montana Standard, in an article of July 16, 2014, indicated that they are expanding the fire hall, with construction to be completed by winter.

According to their Facebook Page the department has (at least) a pair of crew cab pumpers and a tandem axle Kenworth pumper tender (and a lot of fire hose). They also have an older (as in late '50s or early '60s) Dodge pumper, possibly as a backup, possibly awaiting restoration.
