The day Blasterz did the VLA walking tour, we were accompanied by a friendly dog who loved to walk along with anyone and everyone visiting the array, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. :)
The waymark coordinates are for the start of the tour, at the VLA Visitor Center.
The walking tour is well marked. A printed guide available inside the Visitor Center gives extra information about the telescopes and the science being done here than you can see on the tour stop display signs.
IMPORTANT: WATCH FOR RATTLESNAKES! Be sure to stay on the marked walking path and keep your kids close by. Rattlesnakes are not usually aggressive, and do not want to bite you. They will give you a distinct warning if you come too close. If you hear a loud buzz, STOP WHERE YOU ARE and locate the snake. Then move slowly away from it. Once it stops buzzing it should go on its way and you may go on yours :)
