This bell is mounted, close to the ground, in a metal frame, beneath an illuminated sign for the Pleasant View Church, in rural Boone County. There is text on both the front and back of the yoke from which the bell is hung. The text on the front reads 'THE C.S. BELL CO' and 'HILLSBORO, O.' The text on the back reads 'STEEL ALLOY 40 CHURCH BELL'. From doing some online research I discovered that the company who made this bell was made by Charles Singleton Bell who started the company in Hillsboro, Ohio in 1882. There is no year on this bell but it was made between 1894 and the 1970s (from reading this website (visit link) There is also another great writeup on Charles S. Bell's life and company history here (visit link) The'40' on the bell stands for 40-inch cast in which this bell was made from.

According to a stone marker, at the front of the church, the Pleasant View Church, was first organized on November 6, 1836.
