The gate constructed in 1725, is work of renown Czech Baroque architect František Maxmilián Kanka. It is decorated by human and putti sculptures and by coat of arms of rebuider and owner of the Chateau in the Baroque era, Jan Joseph Count of Wrtba (Jan Josef hrabe z Vrtby).
Konopište, originally a gothic castle built in the 14th century, was rebuilt during centuries into a luxury chateau and houses fascinating collections of historical weapons, furniture, paintings and tapestries.
