Several similar plaques were noticed in front of businesses throughout the city of Madrid.
Waymark Code: WMMNWG

This plaque depicts figures crudely...but clear enought to recognize a hat-wearing woman in a long gown holding an umbrella on the left, a woman wearing a beret on the right with a man walking behind her, a building with figures in the alcoves, and a hot-air balloon rising on the upper left.
In the center the words read:
"El Ayuntamiento de Madrid
Agradecido por los Servicios a la Ciudad" and inside a rectangle-
"Capas Ssesena
Desde 1901"
which translates as:
"Madrid City Council
Thanked by City Services "and inside a rectangle-
"Layers Sesena
Since 1901"
It would appear that this and the similar plaques were tokens to thank certain businesses which may or may not still be located at the site.
Unfortunately the plaques are not dated and the artist not indicated.
