Located off Benton Drive in a parking area is a trailhead access point that splits into two directions, one path heading north across the Sacramento River and the other heading west along the Sacramento River. This trail is a multi-network of trails that the City of Sacramento has instituted to provide its citizens proper avenues for exercise and outdoor recreation.
Near this trailhead is the historic Diestelhorst Bridge that was used for auto traffic until a new bridge replaced it and it now serves as part of the Sacramento River Trail.
The trail inventory now includes 80 miles of paved and natural surface trails. These include paved paths, walking loops within existing parks, and challenging dirt trails for mountain bike enthusiasts and equestrians.
