The town of Beggs began as a railway stop in 1899 with its first post office opening in 1900. The town was named for C. H. Beggs, V.P. of the Frisco Railroad. This one-story red brick building at the corner of E. Main and Broadway was constructed in 1907, the year Oklahoma became a state.
The building has a canted entrance with two small display windows on the right, and one on the left. Brick columns with cut stone bases are located at the corners, including the one which stands at the canted entrance. The brick on the west side was once covered with stucco, which is partially worn off.
The clerestories are covered with cloth awnings. On the upper walls, five rows of corbelled brick add decoration. There is rough cut stone coping, and at the center of the facade, a raised pediment engraved "1907 - D. Jackson".
A local resident told us the building was originally a bank. It is currently occupied by Southern Roots, a hair solon.
