2-1/2" brass cap on steel pipe in a ring of stones; rising 3"
From the parking area at Todd Lake, off Cascade Lakes Highway west of Bend, travel generally NE on FR370 for about 3.5 miles. Turn left on FR380 and continue generally NW for about 1.2 miles. Turn left onto an unnumbered road and travel 1.1 miles; then hike 670' W, crossing Crater Creek, to the angle point. There is a LAND SURVEY MONUMENT sign mounted on a bent-to-the-ground U-post which bears E, 3' distant. Found a mountain hemlock with a scribed blaze, a yellow BEARING TREE tag, a LAND SURVEY MONUMENT sign on the reverse side and a nail with washer stamped PLS 2111. Also found a 3-1/4" aluminum cap on rebar, stamped GPS 2 1999, which bears SSE, 320' distant.
Paraphrasing from survey CS14362, filed in the Deschutes County Surveyors Office, this location, designated MONUMENT #2, is described as a point on the E-W centerline of T17S R9E S32, which is 500 feet easterly from the centerline of Crater Creek Ditch. At the opposite or E end of this E-W line in S33 is AP 521 THREE SISTERS WILDERNESS, WAYPOINT WMMMGP.
