The Place: The Edward Tatnall Building houses the Capitol Police and the executive offices of Delaware's Governor and Lieutenant Governor. It is located immediately south of the Delaware Legislative Hall in Dover, the state capital. It is a large, brick, colonial style structure and was dedicated to Mr. Tatnall on July 14, 1971. The building formerly housed the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

The Person: Edward Tatnall (1782-1856) was a Delaware miller and railroad executive based in Wilmington, Delaware. He was director of the Delaware and Maryland Railroad and the Wilmington and Susquehanna Railroad. When the building was dedicated to Mr. Tatnall in 1971, 35 members of the Tatnall family attended.
