In downtown York is this building that is the main firehouse and headquarters for the York Fire Department.
The building is located at the corner of S. Duke and E. King Streets and is on the northeast corner of the intersection. It is two stories tall in the main building and four in the main tower at the corner. There are two garage doors and an entrance facing Duke Street. Over one bay is "REX" and the other is "1." Above it is a large "1." Below the 1s is "Spectamun Argendo." Over the door is "LAUREL." The building is in Victorian style. The walls are brick with grey painted stone accents. Portico structures surround the garage doors. At the top of the tower is a structure that may have been open at one time but now has panes of glass in the openings. The minor tower to the left possibly still houses a bell. On top is ironwork, then a weathervane and a flag. A cornerstone by the door has the year '1877.'
In the rear of the building and facing King Street is an addition with an additional garage door.
Three trucks are housed in the building: Engine #99-1, Engine #99-3 (Reserve), and Truck #99-1.
The number of staff entered below reflects paid staff (60), civilian (1), and volunteer (45).
The number of alarms entered below is the annual number for the entire department.
