Trailhead is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the Metcalf Bottoms area. Recommended parking is at the picnic area then walk the 0.1 mile to the trailer along the park road. Alternative parking is 0.1 mile east of the trailhead where 4-5 cars can fit.
The trail follows the former logging roads up the mountain until connecting with Meigs Mountain Trail. A few views of the valley - better when the leaves are down. Being lesser used, the trail offers solitude - and is quickly accessed from the little known entrance from Wears Valley.
