The Folk Shop has been in business in Tucson since 1986. The store was originally founded by B.L. Anderson and was situated in a small, humble location in the 4th Avenue Shopping District. In 1991, the store was purchased by its current owner, Paul Blumentritt. The next few years brought growth to the business and by 1995 they were in a new beautiful setting in mid-town, where they currently reside.
According to their web site, they sell "Banjos, Guitars, Mandolins, Fiddles, Harps, Dulcimers, Flutes, Accordions, Drums, Panpipes, Autoharps, Sitars, oodles more, and just lots of Weird and Wonderful Stuff". They have hundreds and hundreds of instruments in stock in their store, and some are listed online.
Repairs are part of their services and they work with qualified and skilled luthiers to maintain and repair valued instruments. You can call for an estimate or bring it into the shop for a hands on recommendation for services. They also offer free evaluations and take instruments on consignment or trade.
