2-1/2" brass rock cap set in an outcrop
From the parking area at Todd Lake, off Cascade Lakes Highway west of Bend, travel generally NE on FR370 for about 3.5 miles. Turn left on FR380 and continue generally NW for about 0.7 miles. Hike cross-country about 0.5 mile NE to the angle point.
Based on field measured GPS UTM grid coordinates, this angle point bears N88.9°E from WAYMARK WMMMDB, 1414' distant. There is a LAND SURVEY MONUMENT sign mounted on a bent and now-extracted U-post. Found a rock outcrop with chiseled marks identifying it as a bearing object and a mountain hemlock with a yellow BEARING TREE tag, a LAND SURVEY MONUMENT sign on the reverse side and a nail with a washer stamped PLS 2111.
Paraphrasing from survey CS14362, filed in the Deschutes County Surveyors Office, the location is described as a point on the E-W centerline of T17S R9E S33, which is 1000 feet northeasterly from and perpendicular to the centerline of North Fork Tumalo Creek. At the opposite or ESE end of the line paralleling the creek is AP 497 THREE SISTERS WILDERNESS, WAYPOINT WMMMBZ.
