St.Luke's Church was designed by Ewan Christian (1814-1895) in the English Decorated Style and was consecrated in 1856. It has minor later alterations, and an 1975 extension. It is of red brick with blue brick banding, the red tile roof has blue tile banding and there are Caen stone dressings.

The Combined War Memorial is carved from timber in four basic panels, the three side-by-side at the top record the names of the fallen, the outer two carry the WWI names, the central panel the WWII names with the dates '1939-1945' above them. The lower, central panel carries the WWI dedication and has scroll work to either side and below. As can be seen the WWII name panel has been inserted between the two WWI name panels as a picture which was there has been removed and is now hanging to the east of the organ in the old vestry. This picture was painted locally by Mrs.Lea Merritt in 1920 specifically for the memorial. It is entitled 'Deliver Us From Evil' and shows an Angel placing a wreath on the head of a soldier who was being attacked by a dragon which was simultaneously being killed by St.Michael. The memorial can be found on the north wall of the church in the north aisle near the organ. Above it is a holder carrying three British Legion flags.

The fallen remembered from WWI are:-
