Located at the town of Bethany Beach (population 1,060 as of 2010), this free, public-access beach features fine sand. There are nearby restaurants, motels and a short boardwalk. Lifeguard towers, staffed by the Bethany Beach Patrol, provide protection for swimmers. On a typical summer day, approximately 15,000 visitors enjoy the sand and surf.

There is no single "main entrance" to the beach. The listed coordinates are from the entrance at the east end of Parkwood Street, which is the southern end of the boardwalk. The beach is also accessible from many other access points.
