The summit of the Donon in the Vosges du Nord is marked by a historical heritage.
The place of worship on the top of the Donon was first used by the Celts, who created a sanctuary dedicated to the Teutates, it was the most important Gallo-Roman sanctuary in eastern France for the Romans. In the 17th century, the Benedictines built a chapel at Donon. The Mercury temple on the summit above the TV relay station is a replica. The archaeological original discoveries are in museums in Epinal and Strasbourg (Musée Archaeological de Strasbourg). The mountain lost its cultic significance with the Christianization of the country.
