Michael count Pociej (†1787), governor of Žiežmariai and Rohacz, was memebr of Polish-Lithuanian noble family Pociej in the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Michael Pociej also built beautiful side chapel of the St. Theresa Church in Vilnius in 1783, which bears family name and is decorated by his coat of arms.
Church of St. Theresa, one of the first early-Baroque buildings in Lithuania, belongs among pearls of Baroque architecture in Vilnius. Church of St. Theresa, probably Vilnius’ best surviving example of early-Baroque religious architecture, was constructed in 1635-1650. As the template for the project was used Maria Della Scala, a church of the Discalced (Barefoot) Carmelites, located in Rome.
