The Uptown Theatre was built in 1927 by the Merlina Family, and for years served as Orangeville's major cinematic outlet. In 1975 it was sold to the Stinson Theatres group of Barrie.
The last film was shown in 2002 before it was closed.
It is currently the Goodfriends Fellowship Church, though the marquee and theatre frontage remain.
