The tree sculpture series was begun in 2003. It is modeled after the very popular and successful tree sculpture series in Truro, NS, which strives to create art out of trees that have reached the end of their growing lives.

The Jack Pine Canoe, located at 35 Broadway in Orangeville, was created in 2010 by artist Nick Hall. It is sponsored by Linda Stokes-Barth in memory of Jack Barth, of Barth's Cleaning Centre in Orangeville.
